WS2812 Analog Clock

Description

A clock that intentionally does not move clockwise. It explores alternative ways of representing time using addressable LEDs and non-linear motion.

Technology Used

  • ESP32
  • WS2812
  • C++
  • Custom PCB

Problem Solved

Traditional analog clocks follow a rigid clockwise path. This project questions that assumption and turns time display into a small experiment in perception and light.

Development Notes

Started as a weekend experiment with residual WS2812 strips. The first prototype used a circular PCB with carefully timed animations. Power management and brightness consistency across the ring became the main challenges.

Future Improvements

Add ambient light sensing, multiple display modes, and a cleaner PCB revision with proper power delivery.
